This is an absolute priority for Uniting, who have perfectly executed an impressive prototype of the new independent living apartments at Westmead. What a smart initiative, during this challenging time, to be able to provide customers an opportunity to virtually tour the finished product without having to leave the comfort of their current homes.

Uniting take a great deal of care when it comes to creating better ways to service individuals and communities, providing support and protection for people through all stages of life with a particular focus on those who are disadvantaged or more vulnerable.

Responsive to opportunities of growth and innovation, Uniting Westmead is an ideal living location with the extensive green space of Parramatta Park across the road and both Westmead train station and Hospital only a short walk away. Taylor are proud to be delivering Uniting’s state-of-the-art intergenerational precinct in Westmead. This new development comprises two 6 storey mixed-use buildings, Block A and Block B, as well as communal indoor and outdoor spaces for residents and their families to enjoy.

Block A consists of 32 independent living apartments, 114 aged care rooms, , multi-functional spaces, wellness centre, staff administration,  cafe, seniors gym, chapel and 2 levels of basement car parking. Block B includes 36 mixed independent living units, an early learning centre and one level of basement car parking which will connect both blocks.

Taylor has extensive experience in the design and construction of high quality residential aged care facilities and independent living, particularly within fully live operational sites. We understand that careful planning around the project delivery is crucial to minimise the impact of construction activities on village residents. Our people love to become part of the village community during construction, to ensure that all stakeholders remain well-informed and comfortable with the project works throughout the programme.

This transition in life can be a challenging time for our ageing  population, as well as for their families. To partner alongside Uniting who develop quality facilities such as this, offering innovative programs to enrich the lives of their residents each and every day is very rewarding. This redevelopment will allow Uniting to offer contemporary services for the Westmead community well into the future.

Uniting are one of Australia’s largest community services and not for profit organisations, providing over 400 services across NSW and ACT. During the challenges of COVID-19, their villages have been closed to visitors and this impacts greatly on the residents and their family members. Uniting have come up with many creative ways to manage the mental well-being of residents by assisting them to connect with their loved ones through technology, relationship building environments and lots of activities.

Uniting are doing an incredible job. Here at Taylor, we are grateful for everything they do.
