The Warners Bay Homemaker Centre is the second bulky goods development by BB Retail. Due to the successful completion of their first bulky goods development in Mittagong, BB Retail negotiated the contract with Taylor Group. Value was added through Taylor’s early contribution to the project and many design changes resulted in major cost savings for the client.
With over 12,000m2 of retail space to more of Australia’s well known retailers, the project consisted of a structural steel portal frame with external walls consisting of concrete precast panels and metal wall cladding. The project is also Part J compliant through an innovative metal deck roofing system and the window/glazing systems.
The site presented a major challenge in that it consisted of uncontrolled fill to the majority of the site in which the buildings and pavement had to be designed to overcome this issue. Other major work included the Hillsborough Road upgrade and 13500m2 of on grade pavement and underground car parking.
The project was delivered to a tight timeframe and Taylor Group have again been contracted to construct another bulky goods centre at Kotara for BB Retail.
