When it comes to Design at Taylor, our delivery process ensures focused collaboration across our teams to achieve our client’s vision. We deliver over 80% of our projects through a design and construct model, from concept to completion. The design management process, when managed correctly, not only ensures the construction phase commences on the right foot but also ensures the overall goals and objectives are fully incorporated into the project.
Design and construction are not separate activities but rather an integrated process. At Taylor, we have Design Managers from various backgrounds including architecture, services, structure and façade. Our teams understand the importance of proactive and collaborative design management as a key aspect of the successful delivery of all projects. Highly experienced, Taylor design teams actively listen and are focused on sharing their expertise, identifying opportunities for innovation and adding value wherever possible.
Taylor is well versed in Early Contractor Involvement. This immediate involvement gives us the greatest opportunity to positively influence the outcome of a project with a process that ensures key project deliverables are met. Together, with our client we work closely with all stakeholders in a transparent manner to ensure:
- Client brief requirements are met,
- Buildability and operational safety requirements are met,
- Design conforms with statutory requirements, and
- Client budget requirements are met.
Design Coordinator, Cecile Tran joined Taylor in 2019 with a background in Architecture and a passion for travel. Cecile believes that Design and Construction go hand in hand, “It brings strength to strength to Taylor, connecting two experienced teams, connecting the office to site, for a common goal. And that goal is to provide an amazing product to the Client.”
Cecile is very inspired by her travels around the world and has observed how everyone lives in different ways, and that their architecture responds to how they live. Returning back to Sydney, Cecile said she better understood and appreciated what makes Sydney, Sydney.
What is next for design?
Cecile explains that there is, “A strong consciousness of environmentally sustainable initiatives. Lots of projects that we are tendering are asking for very high levels of NABERS and Green Star initiatives, and I believe that this focus is increasingly important.”
Taylor has extensive experience in delivering Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) with comprehensive understanding of the Green Star Building Council of Australia’s Green Star rating system, and the New South Wales Government run NABERS requirements and how to implement them into building design and operations.
With Taylor being an iconic Sydney delivery partner, focused on innovation, sustainability and community, the company’s Design Coordinator role was a perfect fit for Cecile.
