Construction Begins at Heritage Rich Industrial Icon, Rosebery Engine Yards

Refurbishment works on the 1.9-hectare site are now underway.

Works have commenced at Rosebery Engine Yards – an innovative development putting sustainability and user wellbeing front and centre.

The 11,650sqm development will become a new creative and cultural epicentre for Sydney, transforming a heritage rich industrial icon into Rosebery’s newest destination.

Team Taylor has removed the roof sheets and box gutters in Parcels B & C to reveal the striking heritage structure underneath, including retained timber framework and exposed brickworks. The high-level fascia and window grills along Mentmore Avenue have also been removed, uncovering textured sawtooth gable ends.

Structure wall demolition in Parcel B is now underway, which will create large-scale, open-plan floorplates for future tenants. Wall and roof sheet removal has commenced in the fitness studio – on completion, these amenities will offer a multi-use space for group and individual exercise.

Steve Ziaziaris, Senior Project Manager at Taylor, said:

Rosebery Engine Yards has been designed with the wellbeing of all users front of mind, as reflected in the ecologically sustainable design and landscaped interiors and breakout spaces. The retention of existing features will both celebrate and enhance the existing industrial design. By paying homage to heritage of the precinct, we will create a space that ensures the industrious spirit lives on.

Rosebery Engine Yards is due for completion late 2023. We look forward to working closely with Goodman to bring this infrastructure to life.
