The Australian College of Physical Education is Australia’s leading provider of specialist undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in sport, dance, health sciences and physical education. It is located within Sydney’s internationally renowned Olympic Park sporting precinct. This project involved a custom fitout of an existing building and construction of a new building which together provided a new campus for ACPE at Sydney Olympic Park.

Taylor delivered the 6,500m2 fitout to transform a four level commercial office building into a functional educational facility. This new space includes dance and gym teaching studios, thirty and sixty seat classrooms, student break out areas, laboratories, student amenities, library and administration and staff offices. The fitout involved a complex audio visual installation in the new interactive training and teaching rooms.

Existing finishes within the fitout that were to be retained were carefully protected from any damage. Taylor identified a number of finishes alternatives to reduce the project’s cost and time.

The adjoining external learning space, also completed by Taylor, comprised of a 1,200m2 new tilt-up building that suspended over an existing carpark and connected to the existing building via a link bridge. The building contains a basketball court, an open learning sporting space, a second dance studio, a sporting equipment store room and a DDA compliant platform lift to a transition point between the two buildings on the link bridge.
