The Macquarie University E6A-2 and F9C project included a refurbishment of the university office and classroom space into new teaching classrooms and laboratories for students.
The project involved services configuration/coordination, detailed finishes and management of joinery installation. Additionally, Taylor adhered to the unique time and noise constraints of the University.
An important project consideration was to ensure that we did not impact on the daily operations of the University. To achieve this, Taylor installed a materials hoist with access through a level 2 window, this ensured that we did not use the stairwells and lifts which had high traffic during teaching hours. We also organised out of hours work to comply with noise restrictions on weekdays.
The materials hoist was a success with no noise complaints which allowed us to save time as we could efficiently transport the materials to the floor in a more timely manner.
Taylor delivered cost savings by the relocation of the structural steel mechanical plant platform and the changing of the ceiling tile and timber feature ceiling specification.
