Taylor have delivered the project expansion of the existing Sydney Southwest Private Hospital for Healthscope, located on an adjacent lot north of the existing hospital. The lot has been transformed into 2 basement levels of car parking extending to the existing ground level car parking with a new superstructure and facade consisting of 5 levels constructed directly above the new car park levels.

  • Level 1 works included construction of hospital accommodation incorporating operating theatres, central sterilisation service areas, consulting and support space.
  • Level 2 provides future hospital wards
  • Levels 3 and 4 have been completed as a “cold shell” for Healthscope’s future completion.
  • Level 5 provides the plant room areas for the new hospital extension services.

On completion of the new hospital addition, Taylor undertook refurbishment and expansion works within the existing live hospital areas. This included an extension to the existing escape stair structures from Level 2 to Level 5 to service the new hospital expansion.

Healthscope is one of Australia’s leading private hospital providers, this project for Sydney South West Private Hospital has increase the availability of services offered by the hospital to the ever-growing population of Liverpool and its surroundings.

One of the most important project considerations in the planning and delivery of the project was to minimise the impact of construction activities on the existing hospital. To ensure that the hospital and health care services were not interrupted, Taylor’s program of delivery identified several key interface elements that had the potential to impact the hospital. Through continuous consultation with the project stakeholders, these interface works were successfully scheduled and controlled (including all dust and infection control measures) to take place during periods of low operational activity for the hospital.
