Taylor is currently undertaking the construction of a new sorting and distribution facility in Chullora developed by Charter Hall for their client Australia Post. The project is being built to extend the capacity of Australia Post’s current distribution centre and is anticipated for completion in November to cater for the peak delivery period leading up to Christmas.
Since the early stages of the project, Taylor have been involved in the preparation of DA and initial concept design to develop the most economical solution for Charter Hall. As a result, the purpose-built facility will include a 20,000 sqm warehouse, 2-storey main office, 2-storey dock office, 2-storey warehouse office, external car parks and external landscape areas.
Strict adherence to the programme is critical to Charter Hall to ensure that Australia Post is in operation during the busy period in December. To make these programme requirements possible, Taylor developed alternative design and construction methodologies to enable the pouring of internal slabs early in the lifecycle of the project. This adjustment has given necessary access to the specialist contractor to install the sorting systems early in the programme which is critical for the client to meet their target operational date.
