The Transformation of North Sydney Public School

Preserving the Past, Shaping the Future

Spirits were high at North Sydney Public School, as subcontractors, special guests and the project team came together to celebrate the completion of the primary school’s external concrete structure.

Topping out ceremonies are good luck traditions, with a tree placed on top of the structure to symbolise growth and prosperity for future users.

Jeanie Moran led project commencement formalities with a Welcome to Country, celebrating a shared connection to the Cammeraygal land on which the school stands. Auntie Jeanie is a proud Yuin, Dunghutti, Bundjaung and Barada Barna woman who is a descendant of the Cammeraygal People, with a long connection to North Sydney Public School. Both Jeanie’s children and grandchildren attended North Sydney Public School, adding a personal touch to the cultural engagement and message of Reconciliation.

Once finished, the upgrade of North Sydney Public School will deliver 19 new flexible learning spaces, a new administration area, library, hall, covered outdoor learning area and a new entrance on Bay Road.
