Bradfield Development Authority’s First Building is a visionary precinct that marks the start of construction for Australia’s newest city, Bradfield City Centre. The First Building houses Stage 1 of the new Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility.
A state-of-the-art facility, the First Building will accelerate innovation in Western Sydney’s manufacturing sector, offering world-class support to help businesses grow, reduce risks, and compete globally.
Connecting and designing with Country is at the heart of the design, taking cues from the surrounding natural waterway and Cumberland Plans. With sustainability at its core, the First Building features extensive use of low carbon natural materials and a cooling green roof.
Internal rammed earth walls provide a stunning visual feature, alongside extensive glass walls that allow visitors to witness the creation of new prototypes and technologies in the AMRF Manufacturing Hall. A rooftop viewing platform provides a unique vantage point to watch the construction of the new city and the nearby Bradfield Metro station.
The building is open and welcoming, surrounded by green and open spaces where residents, workers and visitors can gather. This development is set to achieve a 6 Star Green Star rating, full Living Building Challenge certification, and a 5.5 Star NABERS Energy and Water rating.
Now complete, research institutions and the wider industry will have access to the AMRF’s expertise, world leading advanced equipment, training and networks to accelerate their manufacturing.
