A panel of guest speakers – Dan Copping, Talent Manager, Adam Vassallo, Senior Project Manager, Peter Salib, Project Manager, Angelia Liew, Senior Estimator and Christina Succar, Cadet – joined UTS students at UTS BEA x Taylor’s Construction Careers Pathways seminar.

Students interested in Commercial, Project Engineering and Supervisor streams, as well as the Estimating and Design specialities, were encouraged to carve out their own path to success.

Dan Copping discussed the importance of Connection, explaining how building relationships with those in the communities we help shape can highlight real opportunities to make a positive social impact.

Following this, Peter Salib introduced Taylor’s Cadet Program – an immersive opportunity for students to gain exposure to Taylor, our culture and our commitment to Safety and Diversity while on a pathway to a rewarding career. Christina wrapped up the Cadet segment by sharing CV formatting tips and tricks, as well as the opportunities and flexibility available to Cadets in the program.

Angelia led an information session on the key responsibilities and career scope of an Estimator, detailing the projects she has worked on and her personal areas of interest within the field.

The Sydney Opera House is one of the most recognisable buildings of the 20th century, with the Concert Hall – affectionately known as the heart of the Opera House – attracting a diverse range of contemporary performers and events. Adam joined students to discuss the recent transformational works that brings the world-heritage development into the 21st century.

Students received unique insights into the role of Project Management, with Adam sharing a detailed ‘Day in the Life’ that outlined his day-to-day responsibilities and movements. Following this, Adam led a review of the Concert Hall Renewal Project’s delivery timeline and technical installations – most of which include meticulous architectural detailing.

Many thanks to UTS, UTS BEA and our incredible panel for making this event possible. We look forward to hosting similar events in 2023.
