The Roseville College Sport & Wellbeing Centre, a state-of-the-art facility, marks a significant milestone in the school’s long-standing commitment to the education and wellbeing of girls. Established in 1908, Roseville College has built an enduring reputation for fostering strong academic outcomes and high participation rates in co-curricular activities and sports.

The new Centre, which replaces redundant assets at the school, features an impressive array of facilities. These include an eight-lane, 25-metre indoor pool, eight additional classrooms (including a flexible space for dance and functions), a strength and conditioning gym, a leading-edge nutrition and food technology space, three outdoor multipurpose courts, and a two-storey underground carpark designed to ease the demand on neighbouring streets while remaining sensitive to the local heritage conservation area. Under the guidance of Taylor’s Refurbishment and Live Environments division, the Taylor team has worked diligently to bring this important infrastructure to life at Roseville College.

This project represented a unique opportunity for Taylor to collaborate with Roseville College in cultivating the future talents of students interested in STEM careers. The Learning Partnership Program was a standout initiative that showcased the rewarding studies, careers, and experiences available to women in construction. The program began with 70.6% of respondents holding a negative perception. However, after the five-week initiative, this shifted to a 100% positive. Additionally, 58.9% of participants expressed an increased interest in pursuing a career in construction. The program revealed the invisible career pathways in construction, opening young women’s eyes to the endless and rewarding opportunities in the industry. Read more about the Program here.

Working within a highly populated residential area, comprehensive community engagement was paramount to the seamless delivery of work. Every three months, the project team hosted a community drop-in event with the College, where a member of the Taylor site team offered their time on a Saturday to answer any questions the neighbours and surrounding community might have about the project.

In alignment with green building and efficiency standards, the building was designed to maximise the use of the natural environment under ideal conditions. Initially targeting a 4 Star Green Star rating, Taylor has worked closely with the Client, consultants, and subcontractors to focus on ways to exceed this target 5 Star Green Star.
