Taylor upgraded North Sydney Public School on what was previously the grounds of Crows Nest house. The overall project involved the delivery of 19 new flexible learning spaces, a new administration area, library and hall.
The new upgrade also features a new covered outdoor learning area, renovations to the canteen, student amenities, a new entrance gate on Bay Road, out of school hours care facility, bicycle parking and end of trip facilities for staff. North Sydney Public School now has the capacity for an increase in student numbers from 869 to 1,012.
The multi-building campus is highly vegetated and features many significant mature trees. The site also features three original school buildings which are heritage listed along with the heritage listed sandstone and wrought iron fencing and gates along the Bay Road and Pacific Highway frontage. Taylor’s upgrades seamlessly blends the mix of beautiful heritage, contemporary architecture and green outdoor spaces.

Being a live educational environment, safety, minimal disruption and the hoarding around work areas were a key focus throughout the duration of the project. Prior to engagement, Taylor undertook an extensive review of the site’s specific requirements and environment and provided a comprehensive plan to ensure both student and staff safety was maintained throughout the program. To further ensure this and the continued operation of the school, the project was undertaken in stages.
Staff, students and the local community will benefit greatly from the upgraded learning spaces and facilities that will support the future learning needs of students.
